Watch and act - Grass Fire at Eaton

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue have issued a watch and act for properties on Larkin Road, Eaton.

Properties may be under threat. Residents and business owners in this area are advised to take action to protect their properties and enact their bushfire emergency plans. No evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Multiple Northern Territory Fire and Rescue crews and volunteer units are in attendance at the grass fire behind the Darwin Airport. The fire is heading easterly towards Amy Johnson Ave.

The fire is generating a significant amount of smoke in areas including Amy Johnson Ave, Boulter Ave, and the Berrimah Business Park. Any nearby residents are advised to close their windows and stay indoors.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of emergency services personnel. Firefighting crews will be commencing back-burning operations along Amy Johnson Avenue shortly.
