The monkey began his delve into the criminal world by chucking a piece of fruit in the store as distraction
Jewellery shop workers thought they were going bananas when a monkey committed a robbery at the store.
CCTV footage captured the strange events that unfolded in Pidugurala in Andhra Pradesh state, southern India.
The monkey began his delve into the criminal world by chucking a piece of fruit in the store as distraction.
Staff inside initially appeared confused, and the plucky primate soon gained entry.
The store's owner Ravi said: "The monkey was sitting outside the shop and suddenly it came in and threw a guava inside.
"We did not take it and threw it back but it entered the shop. We offered him food but he did not take any.
"It first attacked the worker but he escaped. It sat for almost 20 minutes and then it opened the drawer at the counter and took away 10,000 rupees in cash."
Ten thousand rupees are currently worth around £103.
