The City of Salisbury's popular Watershed Creative Prize will this year return with a broader theme and all new categories.
The competition is encouraging entries depicting the theme of sustainability, with works from traditional art and written mediums, as well as emerging technologies including videography, dance and more to be accepted.
A $2000 prize is up for grabs for the best entry in each of three categories, as well as a Youth Prize and runners up awards.
While historically the popular annual Watershed Art Prize has focused on awareness of water as a precious natural resource, this year's reinvigorated competition has been expanded to embrace works which represent the theme of sustainability more broadly.
Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM, who will sit on the judging panel for the Prize, said the focus on sustainability makes sense in the City of Salisbury.
"Council is passionate about meeting the needs of our community today, while preserving the local environment for future generations," Mayor Aldridge said.
"I look forward to judging the range of entries within the 2021 Watershed Creative Prize, with the new, expanded categories to allow creative people of all types to express what sustainability means to them, whether it is through the art of painting, poetry, videography, dance and more."
