We speak your language

Our multicultural community now has improved access to the City of Stonnington's website, with the launch earlier this week of a translation tool that will ensure all our community has access to Council information in their language.

The Google Translate option on the website allows users to read information in the top 10 languages spoken in Stonnington:

  • Chinese (simplified)
  • Chinese (traditional)
  • French
  • Greek
  • Hindi
  • Indonesian
  • Italian
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Vietnamese.

Stonnington's Digital Products Lead, Jamie Touttavong said, "This is yet another step towards our digital inclusion goal of making the website as accessible as possible for people of varying abilities. The content on the website needs to be readable to all of our customers including those who read English as a second language."

Community member and President of the Healthy Tourism Senior Citizens Club Vigor, Berta, said, "It is very useful to receive information and resources in our language, which will give us more choice and better information.

"I can see the benefit for my community as somewhere to go to read information about their Council and see what's happening."

The translation tool is also available in ten different languages on Connect Stonnington, Council's online engagement platform. Visit the website to learn about our latest projects and share your feedback in your language.
