After more than two decades of advocacy, the Deledio Recreation Reserve new pavilion project has moved a step closer.
The request for tender for the design and construction of the new modular multi-use pavilion is now publicly advertised with submissions due 23 December, 2025.
Council has worked alongside the Deledio Pavilion Reference Group to develop the concept design for the facility and advocate for the funding required to make the project a reality.
Together, $1.5 million from the Federal Government and $1 million from the Victorian Government has been secured – with Council to contribute a further $500,000.
The new pavilion will feature modern change rooms; kitchen and community hospitality facilities; undercover social and viewing areas; first aid facilities; and sustainable design elements, including rainwater harvesting and solar power.
The start date for detailed design and construction will be confirmed following the awarding of the contract. Construction is expected in the second half of 2026.
Tender information is included at the bottom of this page.
DOGS NOW WELCOME IN CBD
Visitors to our CBD can now enjoy their visit alongside their four-legged companions, thanks to the recent adoption of our new General Local Law 2025.
Under the previous local law, dogs were not permitted in the CBD.
Every 10 years, under the Local Government Act, Council is required to review its local law. Last year, as part of this review process, 200 residents shared their feedback with us. We heard loud and clear that the community wanted the clause removed from the 2015 law that prohibited dogs in our main retail precinct. Tourists and our Visitor Centre team had also raised the issue.
Dog owners are reminded to keep their pets under control at all times and to clean up after them.
