CARISBROOK FLOOD MODEL

cari.modelling_1.png

The second community session for the Carisbrook Flood Management Plan was held at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve this week (17 Nov), presenting updated modelling imagery which the community could compare to their own lived experience of flood events in 2022.

The purpose of the presentation was to encourage feedback on the accuracy of the modelling, allowing further adjustment if required. Once the initial model is established it can be used to test future scenarios, impacts of climate change and help identify where improvements could be made.

The meeting included senior Central Goldfields Shire staff, Tullaroop Ward Councillor (now Deputy Mayor) Anna de Villiers and representatives from North Central Catchment Authority, the Project Reference Group and the appointed consultants developing the updated plan, Water Technology.

Next steps in the project include design modelling and flood mitigation options, enabling improved flood warnings, emergency management and planning scheme updates. Further community sessions will be announced in coming weeks.

The project, to be completed in mid-2026, will update the Carisbrook Flood Management Plan (2013) and is funded by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
