Weekly Weather: Rain, Storms In South, Hot In North And East

BOM
G'day from the Bureau for Sunday the 19th of October.

Severe storms impacted parts of New South Wales and Queensland over the weekend, while heat built in the west and that's likely to impact much of the country this week, while the south might finally see some rain this week, but unfortunately it may be too late for some.

Sunday will be dry and mostly sunny for many with hot and windy conditions ahead of a cold front sweeping across Tasmania and just brushing southern Victoria and South Australia late in the day. While further west showers and cooler conditions will impact south-west WA.

Monday will see heat spread across much of central and eastern Australia with dry sunny conditions, while showers and cooler conditions will impact southern parts of WA, South Australia, Victoria, and western Tasmania.

A low-pressure system will develop in the Bight on Tuesday, bringing showers to southern WA and patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms to South Australia and western Victoria. While hot and dry conditions will continue across much of northern and eastern Australia.

Wednesday will see rain and thunderstorms move across Tasmania, Victoria, and inland New South Wales as a low in the bight moves eastwards. Ahead of the rain it will be very hot and windy across eastern and northern New South Wales with elevated fire dangers. With dry, sunny weather elsewhere.

High pressure will dominate much of the country's weather on Thursday, meaning dry and mostly sunny weather for many, the only wet weather will be a few light showers in Tasmania and southern parts of Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. With showers and storms about the tropical north.

Friday will see another low develop over South Australia and near south-west WA, bringing patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will be dry and sunny.

The weekend will see rain and storms spread across southern and south-eastern Australia with dry conditions elsewhere.

And that's it for our weekly wrap, we'll see you again next Sunday.
