Wellbeing, transition from military and compensation focus for second week of Sydney Hearing

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide continues in Sydney this week, with members of Defence and the Department of Veterans' Affairs due to give evidence about healthcare, the transition from ADF to civilian life, rehabilitation and compensation.

Lived experience witnesses will also share their stories, and the Royal Commission will hear from experts on suicide prevention and 'postvention'.

Last week, the Chiefs of Army, Navy and the Air Force responded to questions about military culture, sexual assault, data collection and some of the risk-factors that may contribute to higher rates of suicide among serving and ex-serving members.

This hearing will conclude on Thursday, 17 March, 2022.

Members of the public wishing to attend are required to register.

Proceedings will also be shown via livestream on the homepage.

Anyone affected by Defence and veteran suicide is encouraged to make a submission.

Help is also available for people who require legal support or counselling.
