Wentworth Falls Lake Play Space was officially opened this morning (Friday, 12 November 2021).
Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill, said: "Council talked extensively with the community to ensure the delivery of a fun, interactive and modern play space. Over 400 people undertook the survey to share their thoughts with us and we were able to pull the most popular elements from each design option to create this wonderful new play space.
"Importantly, this new play space provides improved access for all abilities, thereby increasing opportunities for all local and visiting families to participate in play and fully experience this community space. Inclusive play elements complement the accessible pathway and boardwalk here."
The new play space was funded by the NSW Government Everyone Can Play Grant and Blue Mountains City Council. Council secured the $200,000 grant to top up Council's contribution of $400,000. The NSW Government's contribution is appreciated by Council and the community.
Guests included The Hon Susan Templeman MP, Federal Member for Macquarie, Ward Two Councillors Deputy Mayor Chris Van Der Kley and Romola Hollywood, Amy Gage & Bec Quinsey of Moduplay who designed the new play space, Blue Mountains Tourism president Jason Cronshaw and staff from across Council.
The Hon Rob Stokes MP, State Minister for Planning and Public Spaces and Minister for Transport and Roads, sent his apologies.
