Western Australia coronovirus update as at 17 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight.

The new case is a male who has returned from overseas travel and is currently in hotel quarantine.

The State's total number of confirmed cases now stands at 927.

WA Health is monitoring 11 active cases of COVID-19 and 907 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 2393 people were vaccinated. To date, 22,944 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 367 people presented for testing – 360 were assessed and swabbed.

There have been 910,259 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 132,844 were from regional WA.

To date, 31 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (23 of the B.1.1.7 strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).
