As stated by Ports Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

"Planning for increased port and freight infrastructure is vital for meeting the demands of a growing population for the next 50 years and beyond.

"Through the Westport process, we are engaging with the community throughout the creation of the Westport strategy.

"Most of Perth's freight consists of the products we use every day - from clothing, to food and beverages, to furniture and electronics. An efficient freight transport network is essential to get these goods to us in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

"We thank the local governments who have partnered with Westport on these events for their support in what is an exciting time for the future of Perth and WA."
