Wet, Stormy Weather to Continue, National Forecast Says

BOM
Hello, Sarah from the bureau here with your National Weather Forecast for tomorrow. That's Friday, the 23rd of October. Now, taking a look at tomorrow's weather map. The showers and storms are set to continue right across northern and eastern Australia. And that's being driven by this strong and slow-moving high pressure system that continues to direct humid easterly winds across the region, shifting warmer northerly across the southeast with well above average temperatures. And that blocking high is going to force that cold front to slip down towards the south-east, while in the far south-west a cold front to bring some showers, mainly to the coast. So let's go around the country, taking a closer look.

That wet and stormy weather is going to continue across Queensland, with the risk of some heavy rainfall totals during the early hours of the morning, about that southern border region. Daytime temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 20s across the south-east, grading to the mid 30s as we head further inland and across the north as well. For Brisbane, a cloudy day with showers and a risk of a thunderstorm, a top of 25 °C.

So showers and storms are also possible across New South Wales east and north, including a risk for both Canberra and Sydney. But it will be wettest across this north-east quadrant. Out in the very far west, dry and mostly sunny conditions. Daytime temperatures near the coast in the mid 20s. Much warmer as we head further inland. For both Sydney and Canberra, a partly cloudy day with a shower or two and the risk of a thunderstorm, and they're both heading towards the top of 23 °C.

Now for Victoria, it is going to be a warm day, but it will be humid with northerly winds that will freshen throughout the day. It'll be a mostly sunny morning, but then some cloud will start to bubble up during the afternoon. A risk of showers and storms in the west and as well in the east. For Melbourne, a partly cloudy day with a possible shower during the evening. A top of 29 °C.

Down in Tasmania, it is also going to be a really warm day with northerly winds, but some showers will start to push into the west during the late morning, gradually extending through much of the state. However, it will remain dry across the far north-east. For Hobart, a mostly sunny morning, then showers developing, a top of 30 °C.

For South Australia, showers and storms are possible across much of the state, with daytime temperatures in the mid to high 20s through coastal areas. Much warmer as we head further inland. For Adelaide, a partly cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower at night. A top of 27 °C.

For Western Australia, we've got that front that will brush past southern areas, bringing showers mainly to coastal areas but also much cooler conditions in its wake. There's also a few convective showers that are expected through the interior that will pop up during the afternoon and the evening. For Perth, a partly cloudy day with a shower or two, and a top of 19 °C.

Across our tropical north, we're expecting showers and storms across much of the area as well through inland areas. However, remaining dry and mostly sunny throughout the central west. For Darwin, showers with the risk of a thunderstorm and a top of 34 °C.

So if you're after a more detailed forecast for your local area, you can head to the bureau's website, app and social media. Otherwise, I'll see you again tomorrow. Bye for now.
