What is Liberals winter COVID plan as cases continue to rise?

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff Government needs to outline what plans it has in place to deal with rapidly increasing numbers of COVID patients in Tasmanian hospitals as winter approaches.

Today there are an additional 1,650 new cases of COVID-19, an increase from yesterday's 1,414.

But what is equally concerning is the fact that there are now 56 people in Tasmanian hospitals with COVID-19 - an increase on yesterday's 42 patients – and with colder weather approaching, it is inevitable that number will continue to grow.

There is a real urgency for Premier and Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff to update Tasmanians on his plan going forward to ensure the added pressure on hospitals and health staff is addressed.

Staff are already at breaking point in a health and hospital system that has been critically under-resourced by the Liberals for nearly a decade and it's now beyond time for Mr Rockliff to step up and ensure support for frontline health staff.

It is crucial they have the resources they require and our health system is staffed safely as COVID cases across our community and the number of COVID patients in our hospital increases.
