What QLD Health Directions mean for Council facilities

The government directions which comes into effect at 5am this Friday are set to change the way a number of Council facilities and services currently operate.

CEO Evan Pardon said a number of Council facilities were subject to the 'Public Health and Social Measures linked to vaccine status direction'.

"From this Friday, entry to a number of Council facilities will require visitors to be fully vaccinated and able to present their proof of vaccination status or evidence of medical exemption," Mr Pardon said.

"Like many businesses and organisations in Queensland, Council is legally required to follow these directions and the rules apply to staff and visitors to those facilities.

"We have already seen services such as Home Assist subject to previous Public Health Directions.

"At the outset, I want to make it clear that Council has not placed any additional restrictions above the Queensland Health direction.

"Where people who are unvaccinated are still allowed into Council facilities that are not mandated for vaccination, you may see additional hand sanitizing stations, signs encouraging mask use or social distancing or other safety measures and we ask that visitors continue to scan in using the Check-In Qld App.

"These are in place both for the protection of visitors to those facilities as well as for Council staff who we have Workplace Health and Safety obligations towards.

"Finally, I want to send a clear message to the community. Please be respectful of each other, please be respectful to our staff who have a job to do and please remember we are in this together as a whole community," Mr Pardon said.
