What's On At Imaginarium - April And May

Shellharbour's creative hub, The Imaginarium, will host a diverse program of workshops, exhibitions and community events throughout April and May, continuing its mission to support artists and engage the community in accessible arts experiences.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer is encouraging the community to discover The Imaginarium and try something new.

"It's a welcoming space and no matter your age or experience there's something creative for everyone, and there's always something inspiring happening," he said.

During the April school holidays, the space will come alive with a series of hands‑on clay workshops by Black Duck Studio, running from 13-17 April.

These sessions offer fun and creative experiences for children, teens and families, with activities tailored to a range of ages and skill levels.

The workshops include plate‑making, sculpture techniques, mug‑building and more.

A special teens‑only session provides a relaxed, youth‑focused environment where young people can create and paint their own slab‑built clay piece without parents or younger siblings.

April also welcomes Play Club, a scriptwriting circle led by creative practitioner Rebekah Lambert, offering writers a supportive space to share ideas, develop unproduced stage scripts and connect with fellow creatives.

From Monday 25 to Friday 29 May, Rebekah is also hosting 'Grief is a Collage', a week-long creative exploration of life before and after loss.

The Imaginarium will present "Places to Be... Things to See..." a new free solo exhibition from Creative Reflections by Laura D from 9 - 24 May, showcasing her affordable artworks featuring landscape, flora and fauna.

On Friday 25 May, The Imaginarium will be transformed into an intimate cabaret‑style venue for the very first time, when Alison Eaton's 'Crying Contralto' takes the stage with an offbeat and captivating performance that blends music, storytelling, and theatrical flair.

Ideas Club - The Unusual Suspects is at The Imaginarium on Sunday 27 May, a quarterly gathering created in partnership with Unashamedly Creative that invites the community to share inspiration and engage with local innovators.

Rounding out the program is a two‑day Sgraffito Plate workshop on 30-31 May, delivered by Black Duck Studio. Participants will learn the satisfying process of creating, painting and carving their own unique plate across two hands‑on sessions.

Located in Shellharbour Village, The Imaginarium is a flexible community arts space available for exhibitions, workshops and performances, offering professional gallery infrastructure and opportunities for local creatives.
