On World Rabies Day, WHO's Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases is proud to join partners in reaffirming its commitment reaching zero by 30, zero human rabies deaths from dog transmitted rabies by 2030.
To Zero by 30
That strategy is founded on the core principle of One Health, in which humans, animals – dogs in particular – and the common environment we share are treated as a whole.
Currently rabies causes some 59,000 deaths each year, yet rabies is eminently preventable. Strengthening One Health provision is a simple, low-cost and highly effective strategy and, working together, we can eliminate rabies and associated deaths.
