What is the Allan Government hiding?
This failure to disclose key data comes at a time when the most recent available figures show 66,117 active applications - the highest number on record - a grim marker of the system's failure and the growing despair among vulnerable Victorians.
With homelessness rising, housing costs surging, and up to 45 per cent of the price of a new home made up of government taxes, fees and charges, Labor is trying to avoid accountability.
It comes as the latest Property Council September Industry Sentiment Survey found Victorian property industry workers had the worst opinion of the state government compared to other jurisdictions and also a "negative economic growth expectation" for the state.
As stated by Shadow Minister for Housing and Planning Richard Riordan said:
"The Allan Labor Government has turned its back on thousands of Victorians in desperate need of housing.
"Victorians are being crushed by a broken housing system, with little relief in sight. Labor's so-called reforms have amounted to higher taxes, ineffective planning changes, and not enough homes being built. Meanwhile, affordable and social housing investment continues to lag, and trust in government housing policy is at an all-time low.
"They've had the data since June, but instead of coming clean, they're hoping the excitement of footy finals and horse racing will disguise the horror
"Victorians deserve better. They deserve a government that faces problems head-on - not one that plays games with data while families sleep in cars."
