Wickham out of control gathering, WA

Police are urging members of the community hosting parties to be responsible, show respect and consideration of neighbours, and the wider community after another Out of Control Gathering in Wickham on Thursday, 23 August 2018.

About 10.30pm, Police responded to a noise complaint at a home on Spencer Street in Wickham where a birthday party was being held. On arrival officers found approximately 15 adults heavily intoxicated and aggressive. , WA Police say

After a Noise Abatement direction was issued, the party organiser failed to heed early Police intervention and the party became out of control. Police were confronted with a violent and aggressive crowd, some armed with bats and lumps of wood.

It is alleged a 50-year-old woman who lives at the address assaulted a female Police Officer, attempting to punch her and taking her to ground causing bruising and soreness to her elbow, shoulder and neck requiring medical treatment. A male party-goer grabbed a male Police Officer from behind to prevent the arrest of the woman.

It is further alleged a substance believed to be Oleoresin Capsicum spray was used on Police by an unidentified guest of the party affecting two male Police Officers. Glass bottles were also thrown at police.

Roebourne Police officers at the scene called for assistance and officers from Karratha attended.

•Two men have been charged with Fail to Comply with a Gathering Order.

•A man has been charged with Disorderly Behaviour and Obstruct Police.

•A woman has been charged with Organising a Gathering that Became Out of Control, Assault Public Officer, Breach of Noise Abatement Direction and Disorderly Behaviour.

•Four adults are facing Disorderly Behaviour charges.
