Internationally renowned pianist Vivian Choi Milton will thrill the audience when she guest stars for Willoughby Symphony Orchestra's upcoming concert: Legends this month.

Chief Conductor Nicholas Milton AM and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra will open the performance conjuring the dark spirits of Russian Composer Modest Mussorgsky's demonic tone poem Night on Bald Mountain.

Vivian will then grace the stage for Sergei Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto.

"This Concerto is undoubtedly one of the most beloved masterpieces written for piano and orchestra, known for its luscious lyricism and breathtaking virtuosity. I'm immensely looking forward to performing this work with the fantastic musicians of the Willoughby Symphony," Ms Choi Milton said.

Acclaimed by Fanfare as "an exemplar of the modern global pianist", Vivian has toured domestically and overseas in New Zealand, Europe, North America and Asia as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.

The Sydney-born star recently released two critically-acclaimed albums with the Grammy Award®-winning Boston Modern Orchestra Project, with the album featuring Harold Shapero's Partita in C for Piano and Orchestra, selected as one of ClassicToday's Top Ten Recordings of 2020.

In 2019 Vivian gave the world premiere performance of Kate Moore's Piano Concerto 'Beatrice' with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, which was named a Finalist in the 2020 APRA AMCOS Art Music Award's Work of the Year in the Large Ensemble category.

Legends will conclude with Antonin Dvořák's Seventh Symphony, widely thought to be the best work of the Czech master melodist.

Willoughby Symphony Orchestra: Legends will be performed at The Concourse Concert Hall at 7pm on 23 July and 2pm on 24 July.
