Wingham Pool Being Assessed

MidCoast Council

The functionality and safety of the Wingham Pool is currently being assessed after it was discovered that flood waters have impacted the facility causing significant cracking in the pool floor.

The pool is located on the edge of Cedar Party Creek, which reached record heights during the May 2025 flood.

As the flood waters receded and water in the pool was drained large cracks in the pool floor were identified.

MidCoast Council has called in expert consultant engineers to undertake a detailed assessment of the pool to determine the extent of the damage and to identify if repairs can be undertaken.

"We are keen to get a good understanding of the damage and repair options as soon as possible so we can work towards having the pool ready for the swim season in October," Paul De Szell – Director of Liveable Communities said.

Once the engineering assessment has provided guidance on the required repairs, Council will be seeking funding through flood recovery funding programs to repair the pool.
