Winter Blows Up Budget Leaving Critical Services At Risk

Liberal Tasmania
  • Roger Jaensch Minister for Children and Youth, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Minister for Community Services, Minister for Finance, Member for Braddon
  • More than 20 critical initiatives helping communities are missing out on necessary funds because Dean Winter and the Labor Party blew up the Budget.

Minister for Community Services, Roger Jaensch, said this selfish grab for power has resulted in Tasmanians missing out.

"This includes helping Tasmanians pay their power bill and funding for community organisations to provide emergency food relief," Minister Jaensch said.

"That's more than $2.5 million of much needed funding not accessible by these vital services.

"The Tasmanian Liberals have committed over $7 million over the next four years to the Food Resilience Strategy, which would have been made available through the 2025-26 State Budget, had it passed.

"The Food Resilience Strategy, developed alongside the food relief sector, would have been released by 30 June 2025 if not for this election.

"We back these community organisations in. Dean Winter doesn't, otherwise he wouldn't have blown up the budget.

"We know winter is tough in Tasmania, but this selfish grab for power shows it would be even harder under a government led by Dean Winter. Thankfully, winter will be over soon.

"Tasmanians are sick of the politics. They want action. They want stability. And they want it now.

"This election comes down to one choice: a strong Liberal team with a real plan or another merry-go-round of chaos.

    "Let's get on with it.

"Let's finish the job for Tasmania."
