Kiama's Winter Street Festival is returning in July, once again bringing a free entertainment program of warmth, wonder and fun to the heart of town, while supporting local business and community spirit.

Backed by the Transport for NSW Open Streets Program, Terralong Street will transform into a vibrant pedestrian precinct filled with day-to-night art, music, dance, wellness, workshops and interactive performances, plus delicious food and late-night shopping under a wintery wonderland glow.

Locals and visitors alike are invited to join the celebration of the season in the heart of Kiama. Gather your friends and family, rug up, and get ready to experience the magic. There's something for everyone, and we can't wait to see you there on 11 July!

"I love the Winter Street Festival. It's such a great opportunity to get out and about in town with family and friends and enjoy plenty of sights, sounds and tastes in a wonderful atmosphere," Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said.

"Events like the Winter Street Festival are a great example of how we can deliver vibrant, high-impact experiences that align with our Tourism and Events Strategy with the support of the state government.

"By focusing on our off-peak period, we're supporting year-round visitation, boosting local business and doing it all in a way that is sustainable and financially responsible."

Member for Kiama Katelin McInerney said: "Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. As this event highlights, we can use our streets to bring communities together and drive revenue for local businesses.

"Through the Open Streets program, the Minns Labor Government is making it easier for councils across NSW to activate their streets, cutting red tape and supporting local events like the Kiama Winter Street Festival."

Free Festival highlights include:

  • Live mural art
  • Interactive dance workshops - belly dancing, line dancing and samba
  • Silent disco in Hindmarsh Park
  • Yoga and wellness classes all day at The Studio
  • Parade of best dressed puppy & tricks
  • Kiama's first partnered adult obstacle course competition!
  • African Drumming and Silent Disco DJ sessions
  • Free all-ages activities like rock climbing and snowboard rides
  • Outdoor library
  • Live music and dance performances
  • Kiama Sculpture Walk
  • Street dining and late-night shopping

Getting there: Public transport is encouraged due to limited parking. If driving, park at Kiama Leisure Centre managed by Jamberoo Rural Fire Service, then catch a free shuttle bus downtown. Additional trains will be on standby north & southbound.

Road closure: Terralong Street (between Collins and Shoalhaven Streets) closed to traffic 10am-10pm, with detours in place.

Mayor McDonald adds: "I am thankful to the NSW Government for supporting the Kiama Winter Street Festival, via the Transport for NSW Open Streets Program 2025-28, which transforms public spaces into vibrant, pedestrian-friendly hubs, fostering community connections and economic vitality.

"The multi-year funding will ensure the Winter Street Festival can be enjoyed by visitors and our community at minimal expense to the ratepayers."

The amount successfully awarded to Kiama Council for the three-year event series is $349,998.

Destination Kiama would like to thank community partner Airbnb, bronze sponsor Shine Hub, accessibility partner Uniting and event partners Kiama Business Network, Illawarra Production Services, Kennards Oak Flats, Stoic Brewing and media parter i98FM for helping us build towards sustainability for future years.

This project is funded by the NSW Government.
