For the first time, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has launched a LinkedIn channel in Spanish better to serve communities in Latin America and the Caribbean. The three-month pilot aims to bring trusted climate, weather and water information to Spanish-speaking audiences across the region.
The initiative is led by the WMO Regional Office for the Americas, in close collaboration with the Strategic Communication Office. Rather than creating new content, the pilot focuses on translating and tailoring existing WMO material-including flagship reports like State of the Climate in Latin America and the Caribbean -to meet the region's specific needs.
The goal is to understand better what types of content are most useful, for whom, and why. Throughout the pilot, WMO will plan, monitor and evaluate its approach to strengthen regional communication, build trust, and support communities in preparing for extreme weather and a changing climate.
WMO is the United Nations' authoritative voice on weather, water and climate. But to be effective, that voice must be clear, trusted and inclusive. Research shows that people are more likely to act on climate information when it is delivered in their language and rooted in their local context.

The new Spanish-language channel is part of WMO's ongoing efforts to ensure that no one is left behind in the climate conversation.
