What do you want from your regional art gallery into the future?
That's the question currently posed by Wollongong City Council as we refresh the strategic plan for Wollongong Art Gallery.
The plan, once complete, will help inform the exhibitions, programs and experiences delivered through the space on the corner of Burelli and Kembla streets in Wollongong.
"Art galleries are important spaces where we can explore and celebrate our regional identity, our creative heart and challenge ideas and perceptions,'' Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
"As they're a place of creative thinking and imagination we're keen to hear from a wide range of people in our community about how they see the gallery now and what they'd like from it into the future.''
People can get involved in the engagement on the Gallery's draft Strategic Plan by registering to participate in a workshop, or by simply filling out an online survey that's available through Council's website. We're also interested in hearing about how people learn what's on at the gallery - or how they might like to know about events and activities.
"We know people are very busy and we're looking to reach as many people as possible to get their ideas for Wollongong Art Gallery,'' Cr Bradbery said.
"That's why we're giving people the option to fill in an online survey, or if they've a little more time to share, register their interest in a workshop. We're offering engagement opportunities for as many people as possible.''
Once community consultation has ended, a draft strategic plan for the Gallery will be developed and there will be further opportunities for people to share their feedback.
"Documents like this one are not an overnight process. They take time and we want to get our strategic plans right,'' Cr Bradbery said.
"After all, the direction and plans that form the final document will guide the gallery for years to come and it's important that our community's diverse voices, opinions and needs are captured within that.''
