Woman arrested following death of baby in Reservoir

Police have arrested a woman following a fatal incident involving a toddler in Reservoir this morning, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services attended a Fordham Road address just after 11am, after a family member raised the alarm.

On arrival, a 13-month-old girl was located deceased with what are believed to be stab wounds.

A person known to the child, a 28-year-old Reservoir woman, was taken into custody at the scene and is now assisting police with their enquiries.

Three other children were home at the time of the incident but were not harmed.

Enquiries are currently being conducted into the circumstances of the baby’s death, however police are not looking for any other person in relation to the matter.
