Woman Charged After Adamstown Fire Investigation

A woman has been charged following a suspicious fire at Adamstown last year.

About 4.30am on Tuesday 26 April 2022, emergency services were called to a property on Dibbs Steet, Adamstown, following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, police from Newcastle City Police District found a number of vehicles alight, with fire spreading to a nearby three-bedroom house.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters; however, several vehicles and the house were destroyed. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Officers from Newcastle City PD established a crime scene which was examined by specialist police.

Detectives established Strike Force Tinebank to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 27-year-old woman at Thomas Street, Cardiff, about 11.30am yesterday (Thursday 16 March 2023).

She was taken to Newcastle Police Station where she was charged with several offences including destroy etc property in company use fire, do act etc intending to pervert the course of justice, possess prohibited drug, custody of knife in public place - subsequent offence. Two outstanding warrants were also executed.

She was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 17 March 2023).
