Woman Charged After Pursuit, Crash in Cringila

A woman will face court over two outstanding warrants following an alleged pursuit and a crash with a police vehicle in the Wollongong area overnight.

Just after 9pm yesterday (Wednesday 24 June 2026), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on Flagstaff Road, Cringila, when they attempted to stop a sedan.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Appin Road, near M1 Princes Motorway, where it was terminated due to safety concern.

A short time later, officers attached to Wollongong Police District located the vehicle at a carpark in a university campus near Ring Road, Keiraville.

When a marked police vehicle approached, the sedan attempted to leave; however, it crashed into the police vehicle and the driver – a 26-year-old woman – was arrested.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The woman was taken to Wollongong Police Station where she was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed (two counts), class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45km/h (two counts) and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.

She was also charged with two outstanding warrants for police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, destroy or damage property (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO, fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgement, detention application notice after breach etc, and fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgement.

Ther 26-year-old was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 today (Thursday 25 June 2026).
