Woman Charged for Logan Reserve Site Thefts

Detectives from the Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) have charged a woman following investigations into thefts from homes under construction in Logan Reserve.

Police will allege that between 2am and 4am on 5 June, two people entered multiple construction sites in Logan Reserve and stole copper piping and wiring from properties under construction.

It will be alleged a security patrol officer observed a blue Hyundai sedan near one of the locations before later seeing two people, with face coverings, enter the vehicle and leave the area.

A short time later, detectives from Logan CPIU observed a vehicle matching the description travelling along Kingston Road at Waterford West. Police intercepted the vehicle; however, a male occupant allegedly fled on foot.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested and taken into custody at the scene.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located a quantity of copper piping and wiring believed to have been stolen from construction sites, building equipment, a stolen registration plate, dangerous drugs, drug-related items, and a knife.

A 31-year-old Regents Park woman has been charged with three counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of possess tainted property, possess by night instrument of house breaking, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, possessing dangerous drugs, fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe and possession of a knife in a public place.

She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 12 June.

Police are continuing efforts to locate the outstanding male suspect.

Investigations remain ongoing.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) continues to actively investigate and disrupt offences involving the theft of metals.

The QPS encourages members of the public and industry operators to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour, including people accessing restricted utility areas, removing materials from worksites or public infrastructure, or transporting large quantities of metal in suspicious circumstances.

Property owners, businesses, and infrastructure operators are also encouraged to review security measures, including fencing, lighting, CCTV coverage, and access controls, to help reduce opportunities for offending.
