A woman has been critically injured while a second person has been treated for smoke inhalation following a house fire in Coffs Harbour overnight.
Emergency services were called to Prince James Avenue about 10.30pm (Friday 31 July 2026), to find the split-level house engulfed in flames.
Two officers entered the home via the laundry and dragged a 55-year-old woman outside. She was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital suffering burns and has since been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. Her condition is described as critical but stable.
The woman's 57-year-old brother was able to escape the burning building and is being treated for burns to his feet and smoke inhalation at Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
At this time, it's believed the fire may have been accidental, starting in the bedroom; however, the scene will be examined this morning by scene of crime officers and Fire and Rescue NSW specialists.
