Woman dies after car and bus collide at Parramatta

Emergency services remain at the scene of a fatal crash in Parramatta.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command were called to Argyle Street, near the intersection with O'Connell Street, shortly after 8am (Saturday 1 May 2021), after a sedan and bus collided.

The front-seat passenger in the sedan, a woman believed to be aged in her 40s, was unable to be freed from the wreckage and has died at the scene.

The driver of the sedan, a man believed to be also aged in his 40s, and the male bus driver have been taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries and for mandatory testing.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

Argyle Street is closed between O'Connell and Pitt streets and traffic is expected to be disrupted in the area for some time.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) and Parramatta PAC will be investigating the incident.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam vision, to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
