Woman dies in single-vehicle crash - Riverina

A woman has died following a single vehicle crash in the state's Riverina region yesterday.

About 1.30pm (Thursday 28 January 2021), emergency services were called to Canola Way, approximately 5km east of Matong, following reports a silver Mitsubishi Lancer had struck a tree.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

She has since been identified as a 72-year-old woman from Matong.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
