Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal head-on collision in Swan Reach this evening.
It is believed a vehicle travelling along the Princes Highway lost control and struck a roadside barrier shortly after 8pm.
The vehicle then bounced off the railings and into oncoming traffic where it collided with another car.
The female driver of the first vehicle died at the scene.
The female driver of the second vehicle was cut from the wreckage and taken to hospital by road with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both women were the sole occupants in each vehicle.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
