Woodville South Man Arrested After Scooter Crash

A Woodville South man is facing drug trafficking charges following a scooter crash.

About 4pm on Monday 11 May, police signalled for a motor scooter to pull over at Parkside. However, the rider allegedly failed to stop, instead turning into Alfred Street and falling from his scooter while attempting to avoid crashing into a parked ute.

The rider was apprehended after a short foot chase. His scooter was seized and he was taken to hospital for a medical assessment after his fall.

The 67-year-old Woodville South man was arrested, and it will be alleged police found a quantity of methamphetamine in his possession.

A subsequent search of his Woodville South home allegedly uncovered a non-active drug laboratory. Police have worked to dismantle the laboratory today and investigations are continuing.

There was no threat to neighbouring properties.

The arrested man was charged with driving unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed, with incorrect registration plates, fail to stop, hinder police and trafficking in a controlled drug.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 22 July.
