Working with government to improve customer outcomes

We have suggested a range of initiatives to improve our customers' on and off-road experience in Sydney in our submission to the NSW Parliament Legislative Council's Inquiry into Road Tolling Regimes in NSW. See what we've proposed below.

Toll roads are an important part Sydney's transport mix - facilitating more than 900,000 trips every day. Depending on the length of the road, tolled routes can save motorists up to 56 minutes per trip. Not only do they save customers time, but they reduce operating and maintenance costs, which can be significant for those that rely on our roads like tradies and freight operators.

By providing quick and safe trave, toll roads have contributed to Sydney's economic success and liveability. Since 2013, Transurban and our partners have invested $13.36 billion into Sydney's road network, which has freed up the government to spend on other vital infrastructure and services. In the past three years alone we have invested $350 million in operating and maintaining our toll roads to keep them running smoothly.

In independent research, commissioned by Transurban, KPMG estimated that Sydney's toll road network will create $35.8 billion in economic benefits over 30 years due to its accelerated delivery by the private sector.

As a long-term developer and operator of toll roads within Sydney we've been working hard to improve our business to the benefit of our customers and neighbouring communities. Examples of this are included throughout our submission.

We welcome the NSW Government's inquiry and hope the process identifies new areas for collaboration and partnership to improve Sydney's road toll network.
