Works Complete On Craig Watts Park Playground Renewal

Works are now complete on a playground renewal at Craig Watts Park in Neerim South.

The former playground at the site had served the community for over 20 years and had come to the end of its lifecycle.

Baw Baw Shire Council has revamped the space and delivered an exciting new upgraded playground for the community to enjoy.

Council officers headed out to Neerim South Primary School during Term 1 in 2025 to engage with 60 students on what they would like to see for their local playground. All contributions were incorporated into two concept designs, which were made available for the community to view and provide their feedback on.

Community consultation was open from Friday 23 May to Friday 13 June 2025. Once a design was chosen, works on the playground renewal began in January this year and were completed this week.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson is pleased that the works are now complete.

"We are very happy to have worked with the young people of Neerim South to deliver this renewed playground facility, which we hope will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come."

These works are funded as part of Baw Baw Shire Council's Playground Renewal Program, which sees playgrounds across Baw Baw refreshed with new equipment, safety improvements, and minor landscaping each year to improve the experiences of residents and visitors of all ages.

Please note that due to an unforeseeable delay in shipping from overseas, the slide for the new park has not yet arrived and will be added at a later date. To ensure the playground is open in time for the Easter school holidays, the remainder of the equipment has been constructed, with a block placed over the gap where the slide will go.
