The Allan Labor Government is getting on with making sure the Serpentine Fire Brigade has the facilities and equipment it needs to keep the community safe - with a new fire station on the way.
Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan today met with members of the Serpentine Fire Brigade at the site of the new fire station to mark the start of construction.
Located in the centre of town on Treloar Street, the new facility will replace the current station and deliver a better station fit with modern safety features - helping improve the brigade's emergency response capabilities.
The new station will include two motor bays, a brigade office, a multipurpose training room with an integrated kitchen, a workshop and storeroom, separate male and female turnout areas and accessible toilets.
Funded by the Labor Government, Bowden Corporation has been selected to build the new station - with construction expected to be finished next year.
This year's Budget also included more than $35 million to ensure our emergency services have the modern facilities they need to support Victorians - including a new station for the nearby Raywood brigade.
This builds on the $22.7 million for 48 new heavy tankers already on their way to CFA brigades across the state, as well as sharing in $70 million for a rolling truck replacement program.
The Serpentine Fire Brigade's 46 members work alongside other Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigades to respond to fires, road accidents and other risks across the Loddon Shire.
As stated by Premier of Victoria and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan
"The Serpentine Fire Brigade has protected the community for decades and we're making sure they have the facility they need to keep doing this important work."
"We will always make sure our hardworking volunteer firefighters here in Serpentine have what they need to keep themselves and the community safe."
As stated by Minister for Emergency Services Vicki Ward
"The new fire station in Serpentine will be kitted out with modern amenities so our hardworking volunteers can plan for and respond to emergencies across the region."
"We're building new fire stations across the state so that volunteers have the best facilities that will serve them well into the future."
