Works Underway For Construction Of New Dromana Pier

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government has kickstarted upgrades to Dromana Pier, an iconic attraction for the Mornington Peninsula for fishing, walking, boating and swimming.

Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne today announced the start of works on the popular foreshore destination - as part of the Labor Government's $46 million investment to deliver critical upgrades to pier and jetties across the state.

There will be improved access to the water for swimming with new stairs, as well as a solid timber decking and terrace area to provide the chance to view Dromana foreshore, Port Phillip Bay and Arthurs Seat.

The community-driven design has retained the lower landing and included a ramp extended to provide accessible access to the water.

Community consultation shaped the design of the new upgrades and will service the local community for years to come, opening in time for summer next year.

While this project is underway, the neighbouring George Bishop Reserve carpark will close, with parking available at the Dromana Foreshore Reserve or along Point Nepean Road.

The foreshore and beach area adjoining the construction site will be fenced off so equipment and materials can be safely moved between the compound and the construction site while works are underway.
