Workshop fire at Mannum

Police are investigating a shed fire at Mannum overnight.

Police, paramedics and fire crews responded to reports of a large building fully engulfed in flames on Adelaide Road, Mannum at 10.45pm on Friday 28 April.

Neighbouring residents were evacuated as a precaution. There were no reports of injuries and the fire was contained to the building.

MFS and CFS crews extinguished the fire but remain on scene to control any hotspots.

The building, which contained a lithium battery business, was extensively damaged and is not structurally sound.

Residents were warned to stay indoors and keep windows closed due to potentially toxic smoke emanating from the fire.

Adelaide Road was closed for a short time overnight but reopened around 4.30am.

Fire cause investigators will attend the scene today to try to determine the cause of the fire.
