Wounding charge at Mount Isa

Mount Isa detectives have charged a man with unlawful wounding following an overnight disturbance at a licensed venue.

It will be alleged at 11.10pm (October 22) an altercation occurred between two men in a Miles Street business in which a 31-year-old Kirwan man received several stab wounds to his body.

He was transported to the Mount Isa Hospital in a serious condition.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Holmview man in the car park of the licenced premises.

He has been charged with one count each of wounding and going armed so as to cause fear. He was denied police bail and is due to appear before the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Monday (October 24).
