WOW Day 2026

NT Government

Territorians will celebrate WOW Day (Wear Orange Wednesday) tomorrow as part of National Volunteer Week. WOW Day is dedicated to recognising and thanking the incredible volunteers of the NT Emergency Service (NTES).

On Wednesday, Territorians are invited to wear orange, host a morning tea, and show gratitude to Emergency Service volunteers. There's also an opportunity for children to share a letter of thanks.

Chief Officer NT Emergency Service Wayne Snell said WOW Day is a powerful reminder of the dedication and courage shown by volunteers.

"From humble beginnings to now being a critical frontline response team for rescue, cyclones, floods and severe weather events, emergency service volunteers remain a cornerstone of disaster readiness and community safety.

The NT Emergency Service is built on community spirit, and we're proud to say that our volunteers will be there when it matters most."

To mark the day, Territorians are encouraged to wear orange, host orange morning teas, and send letters of kindness here to thank NTES volunteers for their service.

Messages can be emailed to [email protected] [http://[email protected]%20] and will be included in a celebratory video.
