Want a 'pane-free' hard waste collection? Wrap your glass items in cardboard or thick fabric.
Unwrapped glass is the top reason hard waste items are left behind in Monash.
If your property is eligible for hard waste and your collection date is coming up, follow these simple steps for glass items and ceramics:
- Securely wrap in cardboard or heavy fabric.
- Clearly label wrapped items "GLASS" or "CERAMICS".
- Place them out for collection.
This applies to all glass and ceramic items, including glass tabletops, mirrors, window panes, fish tanks, glass doors and more.
Why wrap glass?
Unwrapped glass can pose a safety risk to collection workers. Wrapping and labelling glass helps drivers identify these items and handle them safely.
It also helps contain the glass if it is broken, so it isn't left on the nature strip or the road.
How to prepare your hard waste

- Check what you can and can't put out.
Prepare items correctly before collection (like glass and green waste).
