Written exams start for TCE students

Nearly 7200 Year 11 and 12 students begin their Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) written exams from tomorrow, November 12.

Written exams start tomorrow with Food and Nutrition, Mathematics Specialised and Ancient History and finish on Thursday 22 November with Outdoor Leadership and Computer Science.

Students will sit at 27 exam centres around the state and in more than 42 courses.

Many oral, practical, performance and project external assessments have already taken place or are underway and thank you also to the more than 500 markers who will dedicate their time to this important task.

I wish all hard working students the very best for their exams and I am sure many hours of preparation have been undertaken in recent weeks with the support of principals, teachers, family and friends.

Senior secondary education is the beginning of an exciting future for students in the world of work, training or further study, and the success of our high school extensions is increasing retention and attainment by giving students increased choice as to where they complete Year 11 and 12.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to lifting education in this state and we are investing a record $324 million investment into education, including 358 more staff and $192 million in infrastructure. These investments are only possible because of our strong financial management.

For those students who registered, results will be emailed on Tuesday, December 18, with hard copy results and certificates mailed on the same day.
