Wyndham to Host Matildas Live Site

Wyndham City invites families to enjoy a free, live viewing of the FIFA Women's World Cup™ semi-final between the Matildas and England at Wyndham Park in Werribee City Centre on Wednesday 16 August.

Dress in your green and gold, rug up and soak up the atmosphere of this family-friendly event.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre said that the live site would provide an opportunity for residents in the west to come together to support the Matildas and to celebrate women's football.

"It's going to be really exciting!" said Cr McIntyre.

"Following the Matilda's historic quarter-final win, this is going to be a huge match and what a special opportunity for the Wyndham community to be part of the excitement and share this moment together".

"Bring your picnic rug and be part of the fun, with green and gold face painting and giveaways from 6pm, before match kick-off at 8pm"

"Picnics are welcome and we encourage people to enjoy dinner at local restaurants and takeaway options in Werribee City Centre before the game," Cr McIntyre said.

Cr McIntyre added that the community response to the FIFA Women's World Cup had been remarkable.

"It's been incredible to see how the nation has embraced the tournament, particularly here in Wyndham, with our role in hosting Morocco's national women's team adding to that excitement."

"With events like this and our recent Football Fever Celebration we'd love to see that interest in women's sport continue and encourage local residents to reach out to our local Wyndham football clubs."

"Whether you're looking to play socially or at competition level, there are a range of ways to get involved."

Wyndham City's free Matildas vs England Live Site is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event.
