The 2026 AFL Grand Final will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday 26 September, with the match starting at 2.30pm. This year's Grand Final will see the Brisbane Lions take on Fremantle, with more than 100,000 people expected at the MCG.
With all the action on our doorstep, the City of Yarra is reminding footy fans of a few key things to help everyone stay safe and enjoy Grand Final Day.
Road closures
There are no planned closures of any main roads in Yarra, including Swan Street, on Grand Final Day. Stay tuned to our social media channels for any updates.
Roads immediately surrounding the MCG will be impacted. Barassi Way (formerly Brunton Avenue) will be closed to vehicles on Saturday 26 September as part of MCG event operations.
Drinking in public places
Alcohol is not permitted in public spaces around Swan Street from 9pm Friday 25 September until 9am Sunday 27 September under Yarra's Local Laws.
This does not include outdoor dining areas at licensed venues, where alcohol may be consumed.
