Yezdery Fined for False Registration Details

A former building practitioner's registration application falsely claimed several months of experience at inactive projects, the Building Services Board has been told.

At its June meeting, the Board fined Mirza Hussain Yezdery (BP104646, expired) $2,500 for obtaining registration because of incorrect or misleading information. This is a disciplinary matter under the Building Services (Registration) Act 2011.

Mr Yezdery has since voluntarily surrendered his building practitioner registration, which was granted in March 2023 through a pathway that requires at least 84 months of relevant full-time work experience.

According to information presented to the Board, Mr Yezdery's application claimed he was responsible for building and supervision work with his brother's company at two home construction projects in Wattle Grove and Kewdale.

A Building and Energy investigation later revealed no building permit or home indemnity insurance applications had been received for either site. Additional evidence showed no work was carried out at either location during the relevant periods.

Without the months of falsely claimed experience, Mr Yezdery no longer met the experience requirements for registration.

"Our registration processes aim to ensure applicants have the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience to provide safe and compliant building services," Building Commissioner Peter Stewart said.

"Attempting to bypass these requirements is unacceptable and undermines those who have achieved builder registration through genuine credentials and actual experience."
