OSCE

The Border Service of the State Committee on National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in co-operation with the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek announced the grand opening of the Young Border Guard classroom in Toguz-Bulak village, Kyrgyzstan. This milestone event underscores the joint commitment to address critical border security needs and transnational threats.

In an interconnected world, transnational problems, such as organized crime, violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism, trafficking of human beings, and the smuggling of illicit goods, transcend borders. This underscores the need for innovative solutions that span borders. The establishment of the Young Border Guard classroom represents a substantial building block in the collaboration with the Border Service of the State Committee on National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, poised to make a significant and positive contribution to the enhancement of border security.

"Young people, with their fresh perspective and unwavering determination, are drivers of positive change. Today's opening of the Young Border Guard classroom in Toguz-Bulak village showcases our profound belief in the potential of young people to actively shape the future of border security and counter transnational issues. We are fully committed to nurturing the potential of young people, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to contribute to border security," - noted Ambassador Alexey Rogov, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek.

"The Border Service emphasizes the importance of educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and love for the Motherland. In recent years, we are witnessing an increased interest of young people in the border service and its traditions. Contemporary history of our country is made by young soldiers and officers-border guards, who remain faithful to the military oath. Though the students of the school in Toguz-Bulak may later choose a life path apart from military service, trust my words that those boys and girls studying at the "Young Border Guard" class will become responsible citizens of the country," Colonel Ermat Turganbayev, Head of the International Cooperation Department, shared in his speech.

The OSCE commends the unwavering partnership with the Border Service of the State Committee on National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, recognizing the importance of empowering the next generation of border guards. Together, we look forward to a future where young people play an increasingly vital role in securing borders and ensuring a peaceful, prosperous world for all.
