Northern Adelaide high school students participating in the national #LikeaBoss Young Entrepreneurs Program recently had a taste of work life at the Stretton Centre.
#LikeaBoss is an alternative learning pathway for secondary school students, preparing participants to launch their own business on completion.
The Program focuses on developing leadership, management and entrepreneurship skills and students complete a Certificate III in Microbusiness to support the development of their own business model.
Stretton Centre business support co-ordinators Karina Jamieson and Sarah Menz led the tour, which focused on the facility's co-working space, from which students can launch their businesses.
Students also learnt about the free business support services available to Playford businesses, which can include assistance creating a business plan, applying for grants or connecting with local business networks.
Karina and Sarah were impressed by the students' business models, with ideas ranging from a kid's gym to combat Australia's obesity epidemic to a water-repellent toilet seat.
