Youngtown Resident Faces Firearm, Drug Charges

A man has been charged with firearm, drug and traffic-related offences after a targeted search by police at a Launceston residence yesterday.

Launceston Uniform officers attended an address and located a firearm believed to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary at Waverley in December.

A 38-year-old Youngtown man was also located by police at the residence.

Police will allege the man climbed into the roof of the residence, and verbally threatened officers.

Officers deployed OC spray in an attempt to subdue the man, who was taken safely into custody.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

The man was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
