A youth is in police custody and firearms and knives have been seized after he was arrested in the car park of a hardware store in Villawood this evening.
Officers attached to Strike Force Puma were patrolling Villawood for dangerous driver behaviour, when they saw a ute performing burnouts in the carpark off Woodville Road about 9.30pm (Friday 31 July 2026).
On arrival, police arrested a 17-year-old youth from Chester Hill.
Registration checks revealed the teenaged boy was a disqualified driver and the ute was fitted with stolen number plates.
A subsequent search of the youth and the vehicle was conducted, with two firearms located, one of which police allege was down the front of the male's pants.
Also located during the search was two knives, a second set of stolen number plates and cannabis.
Further examination has determined the firearms are gel blasters; they've been taken for further examination.
Additional police were called to assist at the scene as a large crowd gathered; however, there have been no further incidents.
The youth has been taken to Cabramatta Police Station where inquiries continue.
