Youth Week WA 2026 Ambassador Nominations Now Open

Calling all future leaders.

The State Government is accepting Expressions of Interest from young people aged 18 to 25 to become Youth Week WA Ambassadors (Ambassadors) for Youth Week WA 2026.

Every year, Youth Week WA Ambassadors serve as the 'voice of young people' to develop strategies and activities that engage more young people during the week-long events.

Youth Week WA, the largest celebration of young people on the Western Australian youth calendar, takes place annually in April.

The Ambassadors play a crucial role by:

  • Promoting and developing creative ways to involve more young people in Youth Week WA
  • Contributing to event planning and strategy development
  • Assessing grant applications
  • Attending various events during the week
  • Acting as public spokespersons in the media and at events

Ambassadors are also actively involved in numerous media opportunities, social media campaigns, interviews, and working alongside the Minister for Youth.

Om Sharma is 19 years old and is working towards a Bachelor of Communication while also being employed as a Communications Officer at the Department of Communities. Om applied to become an Ambassador in 2025 and was able to bring his passion for community service and skills in public relations to the role.

"Being an Ambassador allowed me to grow further in my passion for youth leadership and advocacy," he said. "I got to meet so many amazing young people across WA and talk to them about the future they wanted to see - and were actively creating - in their communities."

"I've always seen Youth Week as a great unifying force that connects young people across WA. Being an Ambassador, I was able to play a part in bringing more young people together than ever before, whether by attending community events, talking to young people on the ground, or featuring in the media, it was an incredibly fulfilling role. My experience as an Ambassador for Youth Week will stay with me forever."

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Western Australian (currently residing in the State long-term)
  • Aged 18-25 years (but not turning 26 until after 16 April 2026, the end of Youth Week WA 2026)
  • Contactable by phone, email and able to attend semi-regular meetings
  • Available for the term commencing October 2025 and ending May 2026
  • Available throughout March and April 2026 for media interviews and promotional activities
